Hi, I’m Vanessa, a Cape Town mom of three, and the founder of Crunch.
Like so many parents, I found myself facing the same question every morning:
“What on earth am I going to put in their lunchbox today?”
I wanted to pack lunches that were healthy, colourful and varied, but also fun enough that my kids would actually want to eat them. And, I needed it to be practical. Because as any parent knows, we don’t have time for complicated lunch packing!
That’s when I came across the idea of a compartmentalised lunchbox.
I loved the simplicity of it. Having separate sections made it so much easier to include a variety of foods and different food groups, while helping with sensible portions and without everything getting mixed together.
But I couldn’t find a lunchbox that ticked all the boxes I was looking for.
I wanted something South African-made, practical and spill-proof. Something that could handle yoghurt and other wet foods without leaking, while still giving me plenty of space for fruit, veggies, sandwiches, snacks and all those extras my kids love.
So, I decided to create it myself.
I spent time researching nutritional guidelines, speaking to local dieticians and learning more about what growing bodies and minds need. And luckily, I had three very willing taste-testers at home who were more than happy to put my ideas to the test!
And that’s how CRUNCHBOX was born.
I’ve also always believed that no child should have to sit in a classroom hungry.
That’s why I’m incredibly proud that for every Crunchbox sold, a child in need is fed for a day through our partnership with the Peninsula School Feeding Association.
So when you choose a Crunchbox, you’re not only making lunch a little easier for your family, you’re helping another child start their day with a full tummy, ready to learn.
Thank you for being part of our Crunchbox family.
Happy Crunching!
